From chronic tension to untapped power, your body is capable of far more than you think. In a practice lab (2-hour exploratory workshop) — you’ll release, awaken, and strengthen — rebuilding your posture and movement from the inside out. Perfect for anyone who wants to move freely, safely, or powerfully. Your first practice lab is free. So come along and experience your own reflexive strength in action!

What you’ll experience

  • Safe and supported practice: Using carefully selected props, you’ll explore movements that feel challenging but fully safe. Your body learns to release chronic tension, improve alignment, and restore mobility without strain. Please look at the two silent videos below for a quick look at some of the exercises in the first two sequences.

Lower back exercises from Core Sequence 1

Upper back exercises from Core Sequence 2

  • Reflexive strength in action: My approach focuses on how your body supports itself, rather than forcing external positions. You’ll discover a new way of moving where your spine, core, and postural muscles naturally engage in balance, release, and strength.

  • Tailored for all levels: The practice labs focus on the foundational sequences that support most bodies most of the time, as well as preparing the spine and nervous system for more advanced integration. Every lab allows you to work at your own level. Whether you’re easing pain or enhancing performance, my guidance ensures you progress safely and effectively.

  • Integration and home practice: I offer support for continuing your practice at home, including props, practice videos, and online resources so you can reinforce what you learn in the lab. Please see the vault for more info.

How practice labs activate reflexive strength

Each practice labs session follows the same reflexive strength protocol described in the About page. In particular, each lab will include:

  1. Warm-up & assessment: Gentle movement to check how your spine is feeling, and then a Back MOT exercise to assess current holding patterns in your back.

  2. Targeted release: Exercises and props to unlock tension, in the focus area for that practice lab.

  3. Reshape your posture: You will learn how to ease, lengthen and strengthen your fascia to unlock new movement patterns.

  4. Reflexive strength activation: Exercises designed to engage and strengthen the deep stabilizing muscles naturally.

  5. Integration & guidance: Tools, tips, and exercises you can take home to continue progress safely.

  6. Re-assessment: Revisiting the Back MOT to assess how your practice in the lab has affected your holding patterns.

In general, practice labs alternate between the lower and upper back core sequences (1 & 2) — for two main reasons — first, these are the foundational sequences that require the most frequent practice to undermine decades of holding patterns — second, these are the safest introduction to the method for people new to this work.

Most people will benefit from doing both classes at least once — but feel free to come first to the class that interests you the most. Please see the schedule below for details of upcoming dates for each core sequence.

Who can benefit from going to a practice lab?

  • People with chronic tension or back pain looking for lasting relief.

  • Active movers, athletes, or dancers wanting to optimize posture and movement efficiency.

  • Yoga practitioners wanting to engage deep support without constant control.

  • Anyone who wants to develop body awareness, strength, and confidence in daily movement.

Props

The Reflexive Strength Method relies on specific, simple props — like strips, felts, and massage balls — to help your body feel grounded and supported.

At present, I provide all props for practice labs, except for the wool–felts which are currently on order from the Netherlands.

In the meantime, until these wool–felts arrive, I ask all practice lab participants to bring 2 large bath towels to every practice lab. This will allow you to make different sizes of bolster/rolls/cushions to support the work for your lower or upper back.

(NB. If you already have a Critical Alignment wool-felt, then you can bring this instead.)
